The HKTB offers free copies of the Map of Hong Kong in all their information centers. Get your copies at the airport, the star ferry terminals and even the hotel desk. The Map of Hong Kong is published at least six times a year. This map includes the typical tourist areas: Sheung Wan, Central to Causeway Bay and part of Kowloon. Inset maps of Aberdeen, Stanley, Hung Hom, Shatin and Tsuen Wan are also available.

The HKTB also offers Hong Kong Street Maps online which you download or view from our website. Available are maps of Sheung Wan, Central, Wanchai, Causeway Bay/North Point, Tsim Sha Tsui (Kowloon and East), and Mongkok/Yau Ma Tei.

The AOA Street Map is another free map available everywhere. Its a bit difficult to use because it is full of paid advertising.

You can also find some 3D Maps created by Ossimap. They are basic but useful to get your bearings. And they are free.

Universal Publications Map of Hong Kongs

Universal Publications - www.up.com.hk - publishes several Map of Hong Kong. They have a 1:80,000 scale Hong Kong Touring Map and a more detailed version the 1:9,000 City Map of Hong Kong and Kowloon. Even more detailed maps of Hong Kong Island and Kowloon are also available.

The Hong Kong Guidebook is a street atlas of the whole territory published by Universal Publications. It provides better detail, accuracy and color printing. Edited yearly, this is a good investment since it also includes, in English and Chinese, ferry timetables, hotel listings, etc. It also comes with a booklet Public Transport Boarding Guide which is a complete listing of bus and minibus routes of Hong Kong.

The same company also publishes the 1:32000 scale Lantau Island, Cheung Chau & Lamma Island Maps which is a laminated map with useful transportation information. Another set is the 1:54000 Tseung Kwan O, Sai Kung, Clearwater Bay Maps.

Survey and Mapping Office Map of Hong Kong

Available in most bookshop, the Hong Kong Official Guide Map by the Survey and Mapping Office of the Land Department has territory wide and district maps.

SMO also makes a series of eight Countryside Series maps that are handy for trekking up the hills and country parks. These Countryside Series Maps come in 1:25000 scale and includes larger scale inset maps.

The Country & Marine Parks Authority also produces trail maps of the four major trails available at the map centres. These good hiking maps will save a lot of time, energy and trouble. The Map Publication Centres keep stocks of the Countryside Series of topographical maps as well as the hiking maps by the Parks Authority:
