Hong Kong nightlife is capable of wowing anyone looking for entertainment after dark. It may not compare with Tokyo nor Bangkok and now with less sailors coming for R&R Hong Kong nightlife might be a bit dull for some. Still the locals have their lively restaurants and clubs.

Many of the best Hong Kong nightlife restaurants, bars and clubs are found in Knutsford Terrace in Tsim Sha Tsui, Lan Kwai Fong and SoHo in Central and the infamous Wan Chai.

Eating out is basically a national pastime in Hong Kong. One can easily eat in cheap and cheerful streetside stalls, or splurge in fine dining restaurants. One can find every cuisine with Chinese, Thai, French and Italian among the most popular cuisines.

Hong Kong Nightlife begins when the workday is done and you want to socialise, join the fun at Hong Kong's trendy night districts in Central, Wan Chai, Causeway Bay and Tsim Sha Tsui.

Lan Kwai Fong Street and D'Aguilar Street offer a pletora of bars and restaurants that added some life to Hong Kong's financial district at night. Business is also good at SoHo, along the Central-Mid-Levels Escalator, with its popular ethnic restaurants and bars. Wan Chai's old popular bars have been added by new bars and restaurants. Knutsford Terrace, a small alley on the north end of Tsim Sha Tsui, continues to be popular for its street bars and restaurants.

These compact, carefree and lively Hong Kong nightlife destinations are where affluent professionals, local and expatriate, meet and mix. In Hong Kong, you can still party until dawn; indeed, some bars and discos don't take off until after midnight.

Hong Kong still has plenty of that finest of British institutions -- the pub -- not to mention sophisticated cocktail lounges, discos, and clubs. You'll find the place that fits your mood: happening bars, neighbourhood pubs, funky nightclubs, hostess bars, sophisticated wine bars, and places where you can wine and dine.

Hong Kong nightlife buzz starts happening with happy hour, usually 6pm - 9pm and sometimes till midnight, with two-for-one or half-priced drinks. Ask for the specials before ordering.

After 10:30pm, look for the bars and nightclubs that have live bands, or go to a club with great house music and get into the groove. Many clubs are open all night long so you can party all you want. If that isn't your scene, check out the bars with live sports broadcasts.

Central Nightlife

Hong Kong nightlife in Central revolves arond the cobblestone streets of Lan Kwai Fong which is an action-packed fun place to hang out; a popular loose-tie, hair-down upscale dining and entertainment area. Select from a variety of international cuisines, chat with friends in a bar or dance till sunrise at a nightclub. The nearby SoHo neighbourhood, just off the Central - Mid-Levels Escalator, offers chic restaurants and a relaxed concentration of bars and clubs.

Wanchai Nightlife

Perhaps the most famous nightlife district in Hong Kong, Wan Chai continues to attract people looking for a place to unwind. Its variety of pubs, nightclubs and hostess bars can match any taste and many of the bars and clubs offer live music and dancing. Head to Lockhart, Luard and Jaffe roads. You'll find what you're looking for.

Causeway Bay Nightlife

This entertaining district has an eclectic collection of cosy bars, lively pubs and many karaoke bars; all just steps away from Causeway Bay's shopping centres. Check out Sharp Street East and Yiu Wah Street near Times Square shopping mall or try Sunning and Hoi Ping roads opposite Lee Gardens shopping mall. These areas are just a short walk away from the Causeway Bay MTR Station.

Tsim Sha Tsui Nightlife

The bright neon lights of Tsim Sha Tsui beckon partygoers with a paradise of fun throughout the night. For pubs, bars and bistros, head to Knutsford Steps, Knutsford Terrace, Ashley Road or Hart and Prat avenues. The fun continues in Tsim Sha Tsui East with its karaoke bars, nightclubs and bars.
