Hong Kong

The former British Colony and current economic stalwart of SE Asia is the envy of the world for its diverse mix of culture, booming economy, elegant style, awe inspiring scenery, preeminent infrastructure and not lastly, it’s fantastic food.

Hong Kong is home to the largest number of skyscrapers in the world (beating out even New York City) and it boasts the world’s tallest outdoor Buddha statue (Tian Tau Buddha on Lantau Island). It is this perfect blend of Western and Asian cultures, set against misty mountains and lush, green landscapes, that makes Hong Kong such a popular tourist destination. Hotels in Hong Kong come in all shapes and sizes, from basic hostels to extravagant hotels, all easily accessed by numerous modes of public transportation.

There is always something to see, do, and eat in Hong Kong. Amusement parks like Disneyland and Ocean Park are favorites of vacationing families. Floating out onto Victoria Harbor is the Star Ferry, voted by National Geographic as one of the top-50 travel experiences of a lifetime, as it travels between Kowloon and Hong Kong Island. At night the harbor lights up during the Symphony of Lights, a laser light show that pulsates to music and is set amongst the skyscrapers. Enjoy a unique meal at one of Hong Kong’s many traditional teahouses or tempt your palate with fine dining at many of the five-star hotels in Hong Kong.

Getting around the city is easy and convenient with the MTR, public buses, taxis, ferries and trams. Most major Hong Kong hotels offer travel information and useful maps for exploring on foot. Try Causeway Bay or Nathan Road for their eclectic mix of sidewalk markets, stores, and restaurants, or stroll the hour-long walk at Victoria Peak for breathtaking views of Victoria Harbor and Kowloon.
