  • Every night, many skyscrapers and buildings on both sides of Victoria Harbour light up in a synchronized show called A Symphony of Lights, named by the Guiness Book of World Records as the largest permanent light and sound festival in the world.

Hong Kong International Airport

The Hong Kong Airport is four times bigger than the former Kai Tak Airport and is located just north of Lantau island on Chek Lap Kok island and reclaimed land, about 32km (20 miles) from Hong Kong Central.

This state-of-the-art airport is one of the world's most user-friendly. The airport terminal building is designed by the award winning British architect Sir Norman Foster and is Hong Kong's largest single building. Its wing-like roof and glass walls have been hailed as a landmark in modern architecture. So impressive that the Mainland authorities asked the architect to design another one in Beijing.

Bank of China Tower

Deliberately planned to dwarf the neighbouring Hong Kong and Shanghai Bank Building, the Bank of China Tower is now Hong Kong’s ‘national’ monument. The Chinese-American architect, I. M. Pei, developed Beijing’s triumphalist intentions into a soaring, gracefully irregular pinnacle, the design characteristics of which inspire lively debate among connoisseurs of feng shui.

Hong Kong Shanghai Bank Building

The Hong Kong Shanghai Bank headquarter building (officially HSBC Main Building) is located along the southern side of Statue Square, in Central, at the location of the old City Hall, Hong Kong (built 1869, demolished 1933).

The previous HSBC building was built in 1935 and demolished to make way for the current building. The address remains as 1 Queen's Road Central, Central. One can reach it at 5-minute walk from Exit K of Central MTR Station or from the Star Ferry Pier.

City Hall

Now in its 45th year City Hall continues to host regular performances of all sorts as well as theater concert hall and exhibition galleries the two-block complex have a well-regarded Chinese restaurant and a public library.

Hong Kong Convention & Exihibition Centre (HKCEC)

The HKCEC is Asia's largest convention venue outside Japan, with five exhibition halls, two ballroom-sized convention halls, two theaters and 52 meeting rooms. It also has six restaurants for delegates and visitors. A tacky Golden Buddha statue on the promenade outside commemorates this event.

Hong Kong Cultural Centre

Occupying a prime site on the TST waterfront, the Cultural Centre is one Hong Kong's largest performance venues. In addition regular shows, free performances are often held in the foyer or on the outdoor piazza which faces the harbour. The clock tower which stands between the Cultural Centre and the Star Ferry dates from 1915 and is the only surviving part of the former railway terminus.

Hong Kong Stadium

Built in 1994, this venue can accommodate 40,000 spectators music events are hampered by noise regulations so it focuses on sports events such as football matches - Real Madrid and Liverpool are among the teams to have played here.

Peak Tram

Was built in 1888 and has been carrying residents and visitors up The Peak's steep incline ever since. It's an exciting but brief journey you are high above the harbour before you have time to get comfy in your seat.
