Amah Rock / Lion Rock Country Park
This outdoor walk starts with a visit to the Che Kung Temple in Sha Tin. This temple has been dedicated to General Che, who earned fame for his loyalty during the last days of the Sung dynasty.
From the temple, the walk heads uphill to the legendary Amah Rock, which is said to be the petrified remains of a fisherman’s wife still waiting for her, drowned husband to return.
Following the mountain ridge that separates. Then walk down to the MacLehose Trail along hilltop ridges. You’ll go round Eagles Nest Mountain with its troupes of monkeys to the Kowloon Reservoirs and finish at Old Tai Po Road.
Dragon's Back / Tai Tam Country Park
This outdoor walk goes through the Tai Tam Country Park and passes through a variety of natural habitats like upland scrub colored with wild azaleas and raised myrtle, bamboo groves and forests. Tai Tam Park contains three of Hong Kong Island's largest reservoirs and is home to a number of species of terrapins.
Starting from Wong Nei Chung Gap, this walk explores the beautiful Tai Tam Country Park with its many streams, reservoirs, hills and valleys. It then crosses into Shek O Country Park following the coast of Tai Tam Bay with views of Po Toi and Beaufort islands to the south.
Ma On Shan / Sai Kung West Country Park
You will pass a number of small villages and interesting sites like old Taoist tombs during this out door walk. The walk goes around Pyramid Peak to the top of Ma On Shan for an unobstructed view of the surrounding countryside. Then you'll head downhill, through an abandoned village.
Po Lin Monastery / South Lantau Country Park
This outdoor walking tour takes you to monasteries, over green mountains and to an old fishing village. This trip begins with a ferry ride to Lantau Island and then a bus ride to the Po Lin Monastery.
You have two choices for the walk: a four-hour hike that takes you to mountain peaks or an easier two-hour downhill walk. Both end at the quaint Tai O fishing village where people still live in stilt houses like their ancestors did many generations ago.
