Hong Kong have several shopping areas largely dedicated to a particular product such as Ap Lei Chau furniture warehouse or Mong Kok's Trainers Street. These shopping areas offer something different from the rest of Hong Kong shopping malls and street markets.

Ap Lei Chau

Claims to fame are that it's the most densely populated island in the world, but for shoppers it has far more alluring charms. This is technically the area of Fa Yuen Street between Argyle and Dundas Street in Mong Kok, but its more common name is Trainers Street with a good reason. Almost every store in this area including many of the smaller streets that branch off from Fa Yuen Street are devoted to footwear with sports shoes being perhaps the best represented.

You will find a range of brands and styles that puts the majority of sports shops to shame; prices are good deal lower than you will pay on Hong Kong Island or Tsim Sha Tsui. This is also a good area to shop for sports equipment from shim guards to fishing rods as well as camping equipment.
