Stanley HK Beaches
Stanley has two beaches - Stanley Main Beach and St Stephen's beach.
Stanley is a village on the south of Hong Kong Island. The village is well developed, with a host of western style bars and restaurants lining the waterfront.
Stanley beach water quality is Good, 3/5.
Stanley Main Beach is reasonably clean, although some rubbish is evident in the water. Acceptable to most.

Stanley is famous for its two beaches: Stanley Main Beach, located on the eastern side of the peninsular, and St. Stephen's Beach, on the western side.
Both beaches are sandy and have areas designed for barbecues. Like many beaches in Hong Kong, they also have netted perimeters to protect swimmers from sharks.
The larger of the two beaches - Stanley Main Beach, which is also popular with windsurfers, hosts the Stanley Dragon Boat Championships each year in June to celebrate the Tuen Ng Festival.
The Stanley Dragon Boat Championship has live global broadcast throughout the event on (RTHK Radio 3 - available over the last 10 years on AM567 or for Stanley area on FM106.8 stereo).
Most countries represented - you can find paddlers from all continents adding up to more than any other local event at this type of festival.
It has hte largest number of participating teams in HK (143 teams record high in 2001, 130 teams in 1996 & 2000, 126 in 1997, 120 in 1998, 121 in 1999). One of the largest one-day regattas in dragon boat history in the world.
Dragon Boat Championship has a carnival atmosphere; corporate teams participating.
The best sand and beach setting for a festival day - paddling in the famous Tai Tam Bay which is embraced by The Shek O and Red Hill Peninsulars - Enjoy your so-called "dragon boat swim" anytime from Stanley Main Beach.
Dragon Boat Championship has ten sessions totalling 10 hours of pre-race practice.
Stanley is renowned for its many Bars and Restaurants on its waterfront along Stanley Main Street where visitors can enjoy a variety of different foods (including French, Italian, American, Indian and Thai) or relax with a beer and soak up the friendly atmosphere in one of its bars, such as the Smugglers Inn - an English styled pub that's very popular with both tourists and expats.

Turtle Cove Beach
The beach situated at east of Stanley and west of Tai Tam Reservoir is Turtle Cove Beach which is a Grade 1 beach. Being less than 70 meters long, it can easily be considered as a baby beach. Because there are no signposts, people do not know that you are already there until you get there. It is pretty quiet since it is only frequented by those in the know. Turtle Cove is very well "equipped"; with changing rooms, toilets and showers as well as a small playground, a soft drinks kiosk and a couple of barbecue pits.
To get there, people can take bus No.14 from exit A of the Sai Wan Ho MTR station. Once having gone past the Tai Tam Reservoir, they should keep an eye open for a building called Red Hill on their left. Then they should get off at that stop, and walk on till stairs leading people down the hill can be seen. People can reach the Beach by following those.
